Base Salary
$144k - $240k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented UIs and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop database schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other data systems for performance and scalability.
- Implement and maintain front-end and backend services with emphasis on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and optimize systems for high availability and low latency at large scale.
- Use AWS services and Kubernetes to build and deploy production-grade systems.
- Collaborate with ML researchers, engineers, and scientists to integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8+ years of engineering experience building and deploying large-scale production systems.
- Strong backend engineering experience and full-stack web application development experience.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Nx monorepos, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL or NoSQL systems, Python, and Pydantic.
- Required hands-on experience using AI coding assistants.
- Proven cross-functional collaboration with scientists, data engineers, and product teams, including the ability to explain complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to own complex backend challenges and balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Preferred experience with AI agents, graph-based workflows, MCP tool-use protocols, RAG pipelines, or LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Preferred AWS, Kubernetes, containerization, Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitHub Actions experience.
- Preferred experience with SQLModel, FastAPI, Django, and web services for CRUD services.
- Preferred experience with Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, or Dagster.
- Preferred familiarity with pandas, NumPy, SciPy, JAX, or PyTorch.
- Exposure to laboratory software or analytics for life sciences, material sciences, or related fields is a bonus.
- Experience with laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware drivers is a bonus.
