Responsibilities
- Design, build, and continuously develop a new data platform and associated tools, including big data platforms, browser plugins, and shared functional libraries.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Lead, tool developers, energy system modellers, energy experts, and business users to shape platform requirements and user experiences.
- Develop, test, deploy, monitor, and support the platform using practices that build quality and reliability into the system.
- Build and evolve DevOps pipelines with robust continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
- Participate in the team’s development lifecycle and help improve engineering processes as the team grows.
Requirements
- Practical experience as a senior software engineer in highly motivated engineering teams.
- Advanced working knowledge of a general programming language such as Scala, Python, Java, or C#, plus understanding of domain modelling and application programming.
- Working knowledge of data management platforms including SQL, NoSQL, Spark, or Databricks.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or Blazor and backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Spring Boot, Django, or .NET.
- Experience working across different architectural approaches and explaining technology and architecture choices.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts to technical and non-technical colleagues and clients.
- Experience with agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban and their underlying principles.
