Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and ship secure, reliable, and performant features in the Microsoft Edge C++ codebase.
  • Drive architecture and execution for Edge integrations with Microsoft security, compliance, identity, management, and Microsoft Purview services.
  • Lead cross-organizational initiatives involving browser components, native code, cloud services, and Microsoft products.
  • Apply secure engineering principles to sensitive data, enterprise policies, authentication, and telemetry.
  • Partner with product managers, security experts, and engineers to translate commercial customer requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Use telemetry and customer feedback to improve quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Shape long-term technical strategy and mentor engineers through design and code reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience designing, developing, testing, and debugging production software in C++, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong C++ software engineering experience with secure, reliable, and high-performance production software.
  • Strong knowledge of modern C++, object-oriented design, STL, RAII, memory management, multithreading and concurrency, performance optimization, data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
  • Experience with large-scale, cross-platform software systems, ideally involving browsers, operating systems, enterprise security, DLP, identity, or AI-powered product integrations.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and 6+ years of software engineering experience, or a bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of software engineering experience with substantial production C++ development, or equivalent experience.

  • Employees living within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are generally expected to work from the office at least four days per week, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
