Responsibilities
- Conduct field testing of the GPSSample Android application for approximately seven hours per week.
- Walk through neighborhoods and follow the CDC GPSSample testing SOP.
- Identify application issues, document observations, and create and track Jira tickets through resolution.
- Send zipped exported files to the GPSSample lead after each study.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the application and improve user acceptance.
- Learn the GPSSample Kotlin codebase and contribute code to fix bugs or implement enhancements.
- Expand existing code documentation under the supervision of the GPSSample developer.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a college or university offering a four-year degree.
- Completed freshman year or higher and in good academic standing.
- College transcripts are required as part of the interview process.
- Ability to work outdoors and traverse through neighborhoods.
- Ability to follow application testing procedures and identify issues.
- Detail-oriented, motivated, and able to follow instructions.
- Experience participating in a field survey is ideal.
- Experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, Git version control, or application development is preferred.
- Access to a personal computer; Mac is preferred, but PC is acceptable.

- Temporary internship position with approximately 70% outdoor field testing and 30% development work.
- Work is generally performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work-from-home days may be granted at department discretion.
