Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain FIPS 140-3 validated encryption, including algorithm selection, module boundaries, entropy sources, key derivation, and validation evidence.
- Own secure and measured boot, TPM-backed attestation, firmware signing, and rollback protection on embedded and edge hardware.
- Design full-disk and data-at-rest encryption, key management and rotation, and resilient key hierarchies.
- Build anti-tamper and zeroization systems, including tamper response, emergency erase, key destruction paths, and adversarial testing.
- Engineer secure communications, protocol designs, mTLS, workload identity, tunnels, gateways, and CNSA-compliant cipher suites.
- Build audit and validation tooling, instrumentation, harnesses, fuzzers, and adversarial tests for cryptographic and boot-time behavior.
- Harden Linux, containers, and firmware baselines using kernel configuration, SELinux/AppArmor, and attack-surface reduction.
- Automate NIST 800-53, STIG, and CNSSI compliance policies and generate accreditation evidence as build output.
Requirements
- 5-8 years of engineering experience with deep technical ownership of security-critical systems.
- Production programming fluency in C, C++, Rust, Golang, or Python, with C or Rust strongly preferred.
- Practical cryptography experience implementing or integrating cryptographic libraries and correctly handling keys and entropy.
- Low-level Linux systems expertise across the kernel/userspace boundary, memory, filesystems, drivers, or firmware, with debugging experience.
- Experience assessing and hardening firmware, embedded, or cyber-physical systems against skilled adversaries.
- Experience with TLS/PKI internals, tunneling, and secure network protocols in disconnected or degraded environments.
- Experience building and sustaining CI/CD systems and treating pipelines and infrastructure as software.
- Working knowledge of RMF and NIST 800-53 sufficient to automate accreditation evidence.
- Ability to possess and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent national-security cryptographic depth; FIPS validation, CSfC, Type 1 encryption, HAIPE, KMI, CNSA 2.0, post-quantum cryptography, vulnerability research, reverse engineering, exploit development, hardware attacks, anti-tamper, TEMPEST, embedded security, policy-as-code, or ATO/IATT experience.
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience, is preferred.
- TS/SCI with polygraph, Rust or Go production experience, and familiarity with NISPOM, DAAPM, JSIG, and CNSSI 1253 are preferred.
