Base Salary
$110k - $130k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture, performance, reliability, and technical direction of one or more backend services.
- Lead the design of new systems and public APIs and evolve existing interfaces as traffic and feature scope grow.
- Conduct design and code reviews and mentor mid-level and senior engineers.
- Partner with product, engineering, solutions, and support teams to shape features and communicate search-related trade-offs.
- Participate in on-call and lead incident response and follow-through for owned systems.
Requirements
- Substantial experience building and operating high-traffic, low-latency backend services in production.
- Extensive knowledge of Python.
- Experience with observability, performance optimization, public API design and evolution, and scalable service-oriented architectures.
- Track record leading projects spanning multiple engineers and quarters.
- Strong written communication for design documents, RFCs, and postmortems, with sound judgment, ownership, and comfort with ambiguity.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, search or information retrieval, e-commerce product discovery, and AI/LLM-facing infrastructure such as MCP or agent tooling.
