Base Salary
$174k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and transition AI/ML, data science, analytics, and prototype capabilities for DoD and Intelligence Community sponsors.
- Develop machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and LLM-enabled applications addressing operational mission needs.
- Build scalable data processing and analytics solutions across structured, unstructured, geospatial, temporal, and multi-source operational data.
- Conduct applied research and rapid prototyping, then transition mission-ready capabilities into operational use.
- Lead and mentor technical teams and coordinate technical efforts across multiple projects and MITRE organizations.
- Engage directly with SOF operators, military leaders, government sponsors, engineers, analysts, and mission partners to shape technical direction.
- Communicate technical approaches, risks, and impacts while adapting solutions to evolving priorities and sensitive operational environments.
Requirements
- Typically requires 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, 6 years with a master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, deploying, and transitioning prototype systems for DoD or Intelligence Community sponsors.
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions using traditional machine learning, deep learning, and LLM-enabled applications with tools such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Codex/Claude CLI, or LangChain.
- Experience with scalable data processing and analytics using distributed computing technologies such as Spark, Hadoop Distributed File System, or Delta Tables.
- Strong software development skills in Python, PySpark, or Scala, including production-quality engineering, Git, automated testing, documentation, and CI/CD workflows.
- Experience using Linux operating systems and terminal tools.
- Experience with NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, SQL, and related data science or machine learning tools.
- Demonstrated leadership of capability development efforts and successful transition of operational prototypes to government sponsors.
- Active Top Secret U.S. government security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
- U.S. citizenship is required for consideration for a security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include a relevant master's degree, technical project leadership, multidisciplinary team management, secure operational environment experience, big data and cloud-based processing experience, and embedded, distributed, high-performance, or cloud software development experience.
