Base Salary
$160k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and implement advanced local planners using MPC, MPPI, or custom contouring control for mobile robots on uneven terrain.
- Build high-performance C++ pipelines that consume neural-network outputs, semantic maps, and learned costmaps in real time.
- Develop center-of-mass-aware trajectories that maintain stability and prevent tipping during lifting-column and dual-arm payload changes.
- Build deterministic C++ safety layers and fallback behaviors that override unsafe AI commands and handle SLAM tracking loss.
- Integrate base trajectories, velocity limits, and dynamic constraints with the upcoming Whole-Body Control architecture.
- Deploy and tune autonomous navigation stacks on physical robotic platforms in real-world environments.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or an M.S. degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep hands-on experience developing and tuning advanced local planners and trajectory-optimization algorithms for mobile robots in complex, unstructured environments.
- Strong understanding of kinematics, vehicle dynamics, and center-of-mass constraints for top-heavy mobile robots on uneven outdoor terrain.
- Expertise in modern C++17/20, real-time performance, memory management, and low-latency execution.
- Proven experience building and deploying autonomous navigation stacks on physical robotic platforms.
- Bonus: familiarity with Whole-Body Control, operational-space control, and high-degree-of-freedom manipulator integration.
- Bonus: experience with commercial SLAM/VIO systems, slip and traction estimation, or CUDA acceleration for grid processing and trajectory sampling.
Benefits
- Competitive stock options and equity programs.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) plan.
- Visa sponsorship and green card support for qualified candidates.
- Lunches and dinners, a fully stocked kitchen, and regular team-building events.
- Full-time U.S. position requiring five days per week of in-office collaboration.
