Base Salary
$197k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop cybersecurity architectures compliant with ISO/SAE 21434 and UN R155 across all vehicle lifecycle phases.
- Implement UN R156-compliant Software Update Management Systems with secure OTA updates, cryptographic verification, and version control for automotive ECUs.
- Conduct ISO 21434 threat analysis and risk assessments addressing attack vectors identified in UN R155 Annex 5.
- Design hardware-rooted security controls for automotive SoCs, including secure boot, HSMs, and TEE implementations.
- Collaborate with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to ensure component security and post-production compliance.
- Develop security requirements for AI/ML systems in autonomous-driving platforms, including model-integrity and adversarial-attack protections.
- Work with embedded and application security engineers on security controls spanning hardware, embedded systems, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and deploying security solutions for embedded automotive systems.
- Experience securing automotive communication protocols, including CAN bus and Ethernet.
- Cryptographic engineering experience for resource-constrained environments, including ECC optimization and post-quantum cryptography prototyping.
- Proficiency with JTAG, UART, Trace32, Vector CANoe, Wireshark, SOME/IP, ODX/PDX scripting, and UDS exploit development.
- Strong C, C++, and Rust systems programming skills for bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Experience implementing secure over-the-air updates and real-time intrusion detection systems for vehicle networks.
- Ability to lead threat modeling, security code reviews, and technical security initiatives.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers in secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR Classic and AUTOSAR Adaptive security components.
- Preferred experience includes OpenXC or SavvyCAN contributions, autonomous-vehicle sensor security, hardware security evaluation, penetration-testing rigs, vulnerability research, secure boot, HSM and TEE architectures, automotive firmware reverse engineering, ECU CI/CD and SBOM workflows, and HIL security testing.
