Responsibilities
- Automate tasks using T-SQL, PowerShell, Ansible, and Chef.
- Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- Investigate potential problems and issues raised by users.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and develop proactive measures.
- Monitor database events and optimize system performance.
- Work with engineering teams to automate reactive procedures.
- Design and develop tools to optimize performance.
- Maintain database configurations in compliance with best practices.
- Design and implement backup and disaster recovery systems.
- Monitor capacity and implement design changes for global availability.
- Install upgrades and patches to database servers.
- Review and establish database migration processes.
- Participate in on-call rotations as part of a follow-the-sun team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Database Administration experience with relational databases.
- Experience with MSSQL 2019 or above and best practices.
- Proficiency with OLTP Database Environments.
- Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell; Python is a plus.
- Experience with distributed systems OLTP/DW MPP is a plus.
- Programming experience with C#/.NET is a plus.
- Experience configuring and administering MSSQL replication and Availability Groups.
- AWS Database Management and OLAP experience are pluses.
- Full systems lifecycle experience of database projects.
- Experience designing and maintaining high-volume database systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Experience with compliance programs like SOX or PCI is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
