Base Salary
$163k - $244k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the platform software stack across multiple automotive telematics chipset generations from silicon bring-up through commercialization and sustaining support.
- Architect boot and recovery solutions, including fail-safe and dual-image recovery, OTA updates, and NAND/eMMC storage support.
- Contribute to platform security, including mandatory access control, verified boot, disk integrity verification, full-disk encryption, and automotive cybersecurity threat analysis.
- Lead boot-time and memory-footprint optimization efforts against customer commitments.
- Architect fusion configurations integrating third-party application processors with cellular modems over PCIe, USB, and Ethernet.
- Plan Linux kernel and Yocto upgrade roadmaps and release trains.
- Ensure software process compliance for new platform feature development.
- Translate customer requirements into platform features and build configurations.
- Mentor engineers and set technical direction across boot, security, memory, and virtualization domains.
- Collaborate with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, industry partners, and cross-functional global teams to deliver products through commercialization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field with 6+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree with 5+ years or a PhD with 4+ years.
- 3+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
- Deep expertise in embedded Linux systems software, including kernel development, bootloaders, Yocto-based build systems, and board bring-up.
- Experience optimizing boot time and memory footprint on resource-constrained embedded platforms.
- Strong knowledge of embedded security and automotive cybersecurity standards.
- Experience delivering software to automotive OEMs within formal development, quality, and process frameworks.
- Ability to provide technical leadership across teams without direct authority and drive cross-organizational commitments.
- Knowledge of system software and platform-level debugging, including pre-silicon and SoC bring-up.
- Experience with debuggers, code revision systems such as Git and Perforce, IDEs, and build tools.
- Experience with Linux kernel device driver development and real-time operating systems.
- Excellent programming skills in C, C++, Assembly, and scripting languages.
- Experience with AI-based software development lifecycle practices and large organizations.
- Strong analytical, planning, decision-making, presentation, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- A bachelor's degree in Electronics, Communications, or Computer Science Engineering is listed as an additional qualification, with a master's degree preferred.
- 13+ years of software engineering or related industry experience with strong C/C++ programming expertise is preferred.
