Base Salary
$179k - $225k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the API Gateway platform handling billions of API requests daily and peak traffic exceeding 200K requests per second.
- Build synchronous and asynchronous APIs and contribute to API authorization, resource-server, and workload-identification capabilities.
- Develop full-stack software using multiple programming languages and front-end JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
- Contribute to open-source frameworks and the next-generation API Gateway built in partnership with Kong.
- Use cloud environments, databases, infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and Git-based version control.
- Use observability to identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in distributed systems.
- Troubleshoot technical issues within cloud environments.
- Mentor engineers, support professional development, establish coding standards and design patterns, and lead cross-functional engineering initiatives.
- Leverage modern AI-based coding tools and interactive AI tooling beyond basic code completion.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field is required.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience is required; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies is required.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 7+ years coding with more than two listed programming languages, and experience with databases, cloud platforms, open-source frameworks, APIs, front-end frameworks, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing, Git-based version control, cloud troubleshooting, observability, mentoring, technical leadership, and coding standards.
