Responsibilities
- Build and own systems for enterprise Retool administration, onboarding, discovery, governance, and scaling.
- Develop admin setup flows, landing pages, global search, dashboards, security insights, and platform health controls.
- Design data models, permissions layers, and user interfaces for organizational Projects with membership and role-based access.
- Build telemetry pipelines, backend systems, and user experiences for AI usage, cost visibility, and spending controls.
- Develop controls for governing multiple Retool Spaces and instances, including organization-wide policies and compliance monitoring.
- Own technically challenging, cross-functional projects from design through delivery across the full technical stack.
Requirements
- 2–8 years of professional software engineering experience, ideally including startup experience.
- Experience owning technically challenging, cross-functional projects from start to finish.
- Strong full-stack fundamentals, including backend systems design, data modeling, and reliable, scalable software development.
- Clear communication in design documents, code reviews, and cross-functional discussions.
- Commitment to code quality, testing, and improving existing codebases.
- Motivation to solve real customer problems.
- Preferred: familiarity with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Preferred: exposure to dbt, Databricks, or data pipeline tooling.
- Preferred: familiarity with billing, cost controls, usage analytics, user and role-based access controls, and customer-facing platform tools and APIs.
