Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the cross-platform Rust video player.
- Create and review architecture and designs for team projects.
- Perform bug triage and incident response.
- Lead testing strategies and telemetry approaches.
- Own large features and help guide the technical direction of the work.
- Develop technical expertise in other team members through mentoring and technical support.
- Collaborate with application-layer and backend video-services teams to deliver features.
Requirements
- 4+ years of full software development lifecycle experience.
- Fluency in C and C++, Rust, or willingness to learn Rust.
- Experience developing and optimizing multithreaded applications.
- Experience using build runners or compilation tools for multiplatform projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 5 years of experience or training in a related field.
- Experience with Rust programming and cross-platform development is preferred.
- Embedded operating system experience is preferred.
- Experience developing for gaming consoles such as PlayStation or Switch, Android devices such as Fire TV, or similar devices is preferred.
- Familiarity with set-top box development and specialized SoCs from manufacturers such as Broadcom and MediaTek is preferred.
- Experience with HLS or DASH, DRM technologies such as PlayReady or Widevine, adaptive bitrate streaming algorithms, caption and subtitle formats such as CEA-608 and CEA-708, and codecs including AVC, HEVC, AAC and EAC3 is preferred.
