Responsibilities
- Monitor production availability and take a holistic view of system health across business-critical platforms.
- Build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large-scale distributed software applications.
- Gather and analyze operating-system and application metrics for performance tuning and fault-finding.
- Improve service reliability, quality, resilience, and time-to-market through automation and continuous improvement.
- Partner with development, engineering, product, and platform teams to improve services and enable safe delivery.
- Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
- Balance feature delivery speed and reliability using well-defined service-level objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in similar positions, such as Senior Software Developer or Performance Lab Engineer.
- Ability to program using structured and object-oriented approaches in one or more high-level languages, such as Java, JavaScript, and Python.
- Expertise in cloud computing technologies, particularly AWS.
- Solid experience administering and optimizing Kubernetes, including CRDs.
- Proficiency with provisioning tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions.
- Proactive ability to identify problems, performance bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- AWS vendor certification or equivalent is beneficial.
- Experience in a Java-based development environment is beneficial.
- Fluent English; working knowledge of German is an advantage.
