Responsibilities
- Test mobile software applications to verify requirements and identify defects.
- Write, maintain, and execute comprehensive test cases for software releases.
- Evaluate requirements documentation, clarify scope, and provide testing estimates.
- Advocate for testing best practices and help roll out automated test solutions.
- Maintain automated test suites and identify tools and approaches to improve software quality.
- Analyze quality metrics and defect trends to implement proactive delivery improvements.
- Communicate technical bugs to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate with software development teams.
- Attend customer premises periodically to observe software use in operational environments.
- Challenge or block deployments when established quality standards are not met.
Requirements
- Formal degree-level qualification in Computing Science.
- Commercial software testing experience.
- Three years of UK residency for security check clearance.
- Ability to perform systematic test execution, test case creation, and quality tracking.
- Analytical ability to identify manual processes suitable for scripting, streamlining, or automation.
- Ability to refine requirements, estimate testing work, and collaborate with technical teams.
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and advocate for quality standards.
- Preferred qualifications include experience or interest in Playwright, Appium, or Cypress; Java or another object-oriented language; Git or Subversion; Jira, Azure DevOps, or GitHub; Android smartphone testing; XML and XSLT; and ISTQB certification.
