Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across several Google Play Games products.
- Lead architecture initiatives in partnership with engineering management and cross-functional groups.
- Participate in product strategy, requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, and feature launches across a 3B+ device fleet.
- Integrate new advances in Gemini into Google Play products.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and career support.
- Help grow the Nairobi Product Development Center and collaborate with Play teams in the US, UK, and India.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- At least 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- At least 3 years of experience in software design and architecture.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Preferred: experience with Google’s Java Android stack, Google’s Java server environment, GMSCore, and Android native development.
- Master AI fluency is expected, including the ability to discuss knowledge and use of AI tools during the hiring process.
