Responsibilities
- Work directly with customer technical teams to understand workflows, systems, data, constraints, and desired outcomes.
- Design and deliver production solutions using Extreme's products and platforms.
- Own technical components and workstreams from design and implementation through deployment and production readiness.
- Write production-quality applications, agents, APIs, integrations, data connectors, tools, skills, workflows, and automation.
- Integrate products and platforms with customer systems, data sources, APIs, identity systems, infrastructure, and operational workflows.
- Build automated tests, AI evaluations, deployment automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Implement logging, monitoring, tracing, and other production observability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across software, data, integrations, networking, infrastructure, and AI components.
- Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews and contribute to technical decisions.
- Support production deployment and stabilization and ensure production-readiness requirements are met.
- Create technical documentation, deployment guidance, and operational runbooks.
- Identify reusable components, engineering patterns, and platform gaps and define feature requirements with Product teams.
- Contribute to engineering standards, technical practices, and knowledge sharing.
- Travel to customer sites as required by the engagement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software development lifecycle experience covering design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production operations.
- Hands-on software development proficiency in one or more general-purpose languages such as Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, C#, or C++.
- Experience building and operating distributed, cloud-based, or enterprise software systems.
- Experience with APIs, integrations, data, containers, and modern software deployment practices.
- Experience debugging complex software or systems issues and delivering production-quality solutions.
- Ability to work through ambiguous technical problems and drive engineering work to completion.
- Experience collaborating directly with customers, partners, or external technical teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: master's degree in a related technical discipline.
- Preferred: experience with LLM-based or agentic systems involving tool use, retrieval, orchestration, context management, evaluation, or production deployment.
- Preferred: familiarity with Model Context Protocol and modern agent frameworks.
- Preferred: experience with networking, network management, telemetry, observability, or distributed systems.
- Preferred: experience with Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD.
- Preferred: experience integrating enterprise APIs, data platforms, identity systems, and operational applications.
- Preferred: experience with distributed data platforms, streaming systems, or real-time processing.
- Preferred: prior Forward Deployed Engineering or technical customer-facing software engineering experience.
