Base Salary
$150k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, testing, and release of YugabyteDB database features and enhancements.
- Write high-quality C/C++ code and contribute in other languages as needed, with comprehensive automated tests and code reviews.
- Implement performance improvements involving plan optimization, batching and parallelism, and push-downs to data nodes.
- Improve database scalability and throughput as cluster sizes and transaction volumes increase.
- Contribute to the open-source YugabyteDB project and strengthen its distributed SQL capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve correctness, stability, and performance issues in distributed query planning and execution.
- Mentor and influence engineers on database internals, distributed systems, and performance-oriented software development.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong foundation in compiled languages such as C/C++.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Deep understanding of operating systems, distributed systems, and databases.
- Experience with database internals, compilers, or query planning and optimization is a strong plus.
- Experience building large-scale distributed systems and transactional engines is preferred.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals or other relational database engines is preferred.
- Contributions to open-source database or systems projects are preferred.
- Prior leadership in technical architecture, performance tuning, and mentoring engineers is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed team environment.
