Responsibilities
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to productionize data products through load testing, metrics analysis, and experimentation.
- Design and implement semantic search, query understanding, personalization, and recommendation-relevance features.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for information retrieval systems.
- Tune queries powering search and discovery experiences.
- Develop evaluation and relevance-engineering tools using high-quality software engineering practices.
- Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences and mentor engineers and data scientists.
- Participate in on-call work if required.
Requirements
- Mastery of relevance engineering and experience with discovery and recommendation systems powered by Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, or vector databases.
- Extensive experience using Python and strong object-oriented programming fundamentals.
- Ability to write efficient, optimized, low-latency code.
- Strong software development background with proven problem-solving and technical system-thinking skills.
- Experience training, evaluating, testing, and deploying machine learning, natural language processing, or generative AI products at scale is a plus.
- Familiarity with regression, generalized linear models, or experiment design and analysis is welcome.
- Exposure to Ruby, Rails, Rust, or TypeScript is advantageous.
