Base Salary

$150k - $260k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver high-quality features that create customer and business impact.
  • Collaborate with product and design to turn complex problems into user-focused solutions.
  • Balance iteration speed with long-term maintainability and system health.
  • Improve the technology stack, developer workflows, and reliability practices.
  • At senior levels, lead complex projects or systems, set technical direction, shape roadmaps, mentor engineers, and serve as a domain expert.
  • At staff levels, drive company-level technical initiatives, influence cross-team architecture, establish engineering standards, shape long-term technical strategy, advise leadership, and represent Fieldguide externally.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience shipping production code.
  • Familiarity with modern web technologies such as TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python, and GraphQL.
  • Ability to write maintainable, well-tested, and observable code and make sound reliability and performance tradeoffs.
  • Ability to scope, prioritize, and deliver work that advances business outcomes.
  • Clear, proactive communication and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ownership from ideation through production and iteration.
  • Empathy for teammates and customers, openness to feedback, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Curiosity and self-directed learning, with willingness to mentor peers and contribute to hiring and onboarding.
  • Nice-to-have familiarity with audit, assurance, or risk management domains.
  • Nice-to-have experience shaping a new technology stack, product, or engineering organization from the ground up.
  • Nice-to-have experience with AWS, Postgres, Hasura, document-heavy workflows, ML-powered systems, DevOps, CI/CD, and information security or compliance principles such as SOC 2 and FedRAMP.
