Base Salary
$184k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive transformative ML platform and infrastructure initiatives, including replatforming model training and serving, improving data science production workflows, and retiring legacy infrastructure.
- Design, build, and operate distributed model training and serving systems, model lifecycle management, and pipelines supporting hundreds of customer-specific models across regions.
- Own the team’s technical vision, quality bar, engineering best practices, and direction across the product portfolio and ML platform.
- Lead cross-team initiatives integrating ML solutions with messaging, analytics, and data platform surfaces.
- Improve engineering quality through design reviews, code reviews, production readiness practices, and mentoring senior engineers and data scientists.
- Connect technical decisions to customer and business outcomes and represent the team’s technical perspective to product and engineering leadership.
Requirements
- 8+ years building ML systems in production with hands-on experience across data science, ML engineering, and ML operations.
- Experience designing and training predictive models, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and recommenders, using frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Strong distributed systems fundamentals and experience designing for scale, reliability, and cost.
- Experience owning technical direction, leading multi-quarter cross-team initiatives, and developing senior engineers while maintaining high personal output.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build consensus and drive decisions.
- Preferred experience with recommender systems, multi-armed bandits, uplift modeling, MLflow or another model registry, Ray, feature stores, or ML observability.
- Preferred experience with Python, Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Redis, Kubernetes, and customer engagement, personalization, or marketing technology.
