Base Salary

$150k - $240k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Engage deeply with exploration geologists and data scientists to tailor technology development to exploration needs.
  • Build data pipelines and tooling that derive human and machine insights from exploration data, sometimes leading a small group of software engineers.
  • Develop expertise in KoBold’s Data Systems and understand their impact on exploration.
  • Own projects end to end from design and implementation through testing and continued user engagement.
  • Respond to design and code feedback and provide feedback to teammates.
  • Manage the team’s services operationally and assist scientific colleagues with tooling.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of software engineering experience, ideally building production cloud data systems.
  • Proficiency with Python.
  • Ability to write production-quality code that is correct, readable, well-tested, scalable, and extensible.
  • Experience with large-scale system design.
  • Demonstrated ownership of defining problems and delivering impactful projects iteratively.
  • Ability and willingness to learn mineral exploration and geology and work directly with geologists, including in the field.
  • Ability to explain technical problems to non-developer domain experts and collaborate across the company.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing, dynamic early-stage company with evolving responsibilities.
  • Ability to identify the technical products that best support business objectives.
  • Preferred experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React.
  • Preferred experience with geospatial data and map-based experiences.
  • Preferred familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred formal education or job exposure to natural sciences.
