Responsibilities
- Own backend services, frontend services, data warehouses, caching infrastructure, and other production systems.
- Write and review code, develop documentation, and create capacity plans.
- Debug complex problems in live production environments.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and serve as an escalation contact for service incidents.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to operate systems used by millions of users worldwide.
Requirements
- Knowledge of internet service architectures such as load balancing, LAMP, and CDNs.
- Experience configuring and maintaining Apache, Memcached, Squid, MySQL, NFS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP.
- Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs.
- Experience learning PHP, Python, C++, and Java.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of coding experience and at least 7 years of experience with UNIX and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
- Experience with capacity planning for internet service architectures.
- Preferred: BS or MS in Computer Science.
- Preferred: experience using AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows, implementing responsible and ethical AI practices, and developing skills in prompt/context engineering or agent orchestration.
