Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, enhance, and maintain software applications, infrastructure-as-code, and research computing tools.
- Integrate software with high-performance computing systems and cloud platforms through automation and deployment pipelines.
- Write clean, documented, maintainable code and infrastructure automation scripts, including Ansible tooling.
- Analyze and optimize software performance, memory usage, and computational research workloads.
- Collaborate with researchers and systems engineers to integrate and support software tools.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support for researchers using the software environment.
- Propose and implement software features, improvements, and updates, including efforts involving AI and large language models.
- Lead or participate in software projects across planning, development, testing, and deployment.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables when applicable and supervise staff members when needed.
Requirements
- Associate degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience for the Scientific Computing Engagement Specialist intermediate professional classification, or a bachelor's degree with no prior relevant work experience required for the Scientific Computing Software Specialist professional classification.
- Relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of education, and an equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted for the intermediate professional classification.
- Experience integrating software with high-performance computing environments and cloud platforms through automation and deployment pipelines.
- Ability to analyze and optimize software performance for computational research workloads.
- Ability to develop, deploy, enhance, and maintain software applications and research computing tools.
- Proficiency writing clean, well-documented, and maintainable code or scripts.
- Ability to contribute to or lead software projects across planning, development, testing, and deployment.
- Preferred ability to manage project timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
- Preferred capacity to supervise staff, support employee development, and assist with performance management.
- Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher, potential government background investigation, eligibility to obtain a government security clearance, and U.S. citizenship are required.
- Employees must participate in the ARL drug testing program and comply with applicable electronic and physical monitoring requirements.
