Responsibilities
- Design, develop, improve, and deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performance Android software solutions.
- Build modern Android applications using Kotlin, XML, Jetpack Compose, navigation components, MVVM or MVP patterns, coroutines, flows, and dependency injection.
- Support legacy Java codebases and apply strong application architecture and dependency-management practices.
- Collaborate with product managers or owners, designers, solution architects, security, platform, QA, and other engineering teams.
- Implement unit testing, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, security controls, release automation, and Android release processes.
- Use monitoring and observability platforms to support reliable mobile applications.
- Participate in code reviews, technical communities, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure software complies with enterprise security, risk, governance, regulatory, and secure-coding requirements.
- Provide technical guidance, advise stakeholders, and contribute to cross-platform mobile initiatives involving iOS principles.
Requirements
- Strong Android development experience with expert knowledge of Kotlin and experience supporting legacy Java codebases.
- Experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack Components, XML, Jetpack Compose, Navigation Component, Compose Navigation, MVVM, MVP, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flows, Hilt, and Dagger.
- Strong understanding of Android lifecycle management, state handling, side-effect management, notifications, and permissions.
- Experience with Retrofit, OkHttp, Gradle, modularisation strategies, and build optimisation.
- Experience with automated testing using JUnit, Mockito or MockK, and Compose UI Testing.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, and Snyk.
- Knowledge of GitFlow, Trunk-Based Development, Android App Bundles, and mobile release processes.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog or Firebase.
- Ability to build CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security controls, and release automation.
- Understanding of iOS development principles and mobile ecosystem standards is valued.
- Ability to collaborate across functions, communicate complex information, influence decisions, and manage technical risks and controls.
- Ability to meet relevant security, governance, risk, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
