Responsibilities
- Own SAP SD billing module design, configuration approach, estimates, sequencing, and deliverable approvals.
- Configure billing document types, periodic and milestone billing plans, copy control, invoice split logic, cancellation and reversal behavior, and intercompany billing flows.
- Own revenue account determination and the SD-to-FI posting interface, including resolution of accounting document failures.
- Analyze and clear blocked, incomplete, and failed billing documents and ensure billing runs complete within period-close windows.
- Configure invoice output determination and form output and support statutory e-invoicing and e-document requirements.
- Manage dependencies with Finance, Order Management, Pricing, Credit Management, Collections, and Cash Application teams.
- Deliver the workstream against milestones with quality gates for configuration, specifications, test evidence, and defect containment.
- Lead diagnosis and corrective action for billing failures, incorrect invoice splits, configuration issues, data issues, and integration problems.
- Build reusable AI prompts and accelerators for test generation, invoice split analysis, and account determination troubleshooting.
- Use SAP Joule for Consultants, curate grounding content, specify Joule agent use cases, and validate AI-generated results against business outcomes.
- Lead, allocate work to, and mentor a small delivery team while reviewing deliverables before release.
- Lead requirements and design workshops, present options and risks, manage stakeholder relationships, and defend committed scope and dates.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience in the primary skill, SAP Sales and Distribution (SD).
- 15 years of full-time education.
- Strong SAP SD Billing configuration experience covering billing documents, billing plans, copy control, invoice splits, cancellations, and intercompany billing in SAP S/4HANA or ECC.
- Strong expertise in revenue account determination and the SD-to-FI posting interface, including accounting document failure diagnosis.
- Working knowledge of condition technique effects on billing values, taxes, and rebate-relevant conditions.
- Experience configuring billing output, form determination, and output error handling in S/4HANA Output Management or NAST.
- Experience supporting or owning billing activity through month-end and year-end close under time pressure.
- Strong knowledge of customer, material, and pricing master data dependencies.
- Current, continuous hands-on configuration experience with no sustained break from build activity in the last 18 months.
- Demonstrated AI-enabled delivery through prompt sets, accelerators, automation, or analysis routines adopted by others and governed by a validation standard.
- Working use of SAP Joule for Consultants, or ability to reach working proficiency within 90 days of joining.
- End-to-end ownership of an SAP module workstream, including estimation, milestone commitment, defect management, integration testing, and cutover.
- Leadership of a small delivery team and direct ownership of business stakeholder relationships, including contested scope discussions.
- Workstream ownership across at least two full-lifecycle SAP implementations or large rollouts.
- Preferred experience with SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting (RAR), IFRS 15 revenue scenarios, country-specific e-invoicing localization, SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, SAP BRIM, Convergent Invoicing, or clean-core S/4HANA billing extensibility.
