Responsibilities
- Own software architecture and design for embedded software, Wi-Fi protocol stacks, low-level firmware, and Linux drivers.
- Guide implementation, conduct architectural code reviews, and debug complex system-level issues.
- Collaborate with engineering managers on JIRA work decomposition, estimation, backlog structure, schedules, dependencies, and integration risks.
- Shape long-term architectural direction for next-generation Wi-Fi ICs and align software and hardware decisions with product needs and Wi-Fi standards.
- Contribute to Wi-Fi specifications, track industry trends, and drive strategic wireless connectivity initiatives.
- Advocate for open-source and Linux engagement, including upstream contributions where appropriate.
- Drive unit testing, functional testing, continuous integration, verification, and software quality practices across the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; graduates of IIT, NIT, BITS, or IISc are preferred.
- 12+ years of professional software development experience, including significant experience in an architect role.
- Strong experience with embedded systems, communication stacks, or Linux kernel drivers.
- Ability to define and evolve complex embedded software architectures while balancing performance, power, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture and design patterns, with excellent architecture and design documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to lead technical discussions, build consensus, and influence architects, engineering teams, and leadership.
- Deep experience with system-level thinking, hardware/software partitioning, complex SoCs, and hardware accelerators.
- Deep expertise in Wi-Fi protocols or other communication stacks.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel architecture, device drivers, and upstreaming practices.
- Hands-on proficiency in C and low-level debugging at system and driver layers.
- Strong exposure to CI/CD pipelines, integration testing, and performance benchmarking frameworks.
- Preferred qualifications include open-source contributions, familiarity with RTOS alongside Linux, and knowledge of secure boot, cryptography, and trusted execution environments.
