Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support mission-critical software services for Komatsu automation products.
- Implement well-scoped stories within distributed autonomous services under guidance from senior engineers.
- Translate defined requirements into maintainable code and automated unit and integration tests.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and field teams to deliver incremental product improvements.
- Follow established design, coding, security, privacy, and operational practices.
- Diagnose production issues using logs and metrics and support operational services.
- Travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional international travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0–2 years of professional software development experience; internships, co-ops, and relevant project experience may be considered.
- Programming ability in at least one modern language and working knowledge of object-oriented fundamentals, basic design patterns, and clean code practices.
- Familiarity with consuming and implementing simple REST API endpoints with guidance.
- Exposure to coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, and automated testing.
- Ability to write and maintain primarily unit-level automated tests, with guided exposure to integration testing and CI pipelines.
- Basic familiarity with diagnosing issues using logs and metrics and following operational practices for production services.
- Working understanding of secure coding and data-handling expectations.
- Strong collaboration, communication, feedback-seeking, and learning skills.
- Preferred: experience with event-driven microservices, cloud-native deployment patterns, containerization, network protocols, network programming, and distributed application debugging and analysis.
