Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support mission-critical software services for Komatsu automation products.
  • Implement well-scoped stories within distributed autonomous services under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Translate defined requirements into maintainable code and automated unit and integration tests.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, and field teams to deliver incremental product improvements.
  • Follow established design, coding, security, privacy, and operational practices.
  • Diagnose production issues using logs and metrics and support operational services.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional international travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software/Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional software development experience; internships, co-ops, and relevant project experience may be considered.
  • Programming ability in at least one modern language and working knowledge of object-oriented fundamentals, basic design patterns, and clean code practices.
  • Familiarity with consuming and implementing simple REST API endpoints with guidance.
  • Exposure to coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, and automated testing.
  • Ability to write and maintain primarily unit-level automated tests, with guided exposure to integration testing and CI pipelines.
  • Basic familiarity with diagnosing issues using logs and metrics and following operational practices for production services.
  • Working understanding of secure coding and data-handling expectations.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, feedback-seeking, and learning skills.
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven microservices, cloud-native deployment patterns, containerization, network protocols, network programming, and distributed application debugging and analysis.
