Responsibilities
- Prototype state-of-the-art computer vision solutions for real-world spacecraft problems.
- Develop and maintain core libraries, runtime applications, flight software, firmware, algorithms, and simulation products.
- Integrate classical and geometric computer vision methods with machine learning methods.
- Work on space vehicle computer vision software and hardware subsystems across spacecraft and orbital regimes.
- Develop autonomous spacecraft operations and space vehicle autonomy tools for dynamic missions.
- Create test plans and procedures for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operations.
- Collaborate across teams and with end users, operators, customers, and mission partners to define and validate functionality.
- Define automated fault detection and response capabilities.
- Provide hardware-in-the-loop and Monte Carlo simulation capabilities.
- Support ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit spacecraft operations.
Requirements
- Required education includes an MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science emphasizing Computer Vision, plus a BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Advanced professional experience developing and benchmarking ML algorithms on large-scale datasets.
- High proficiency in C++ development in a Linux environment.
- Experience with computer vision methods such as object detection, object tracking, instance segmentation, semantic segmentation, semantic change detection, or natural feature tracking.
- Experience with visual odometry, SLAM, multi-view geometry, structure from motion, 3D geometry, stereo, neural 3D reconstruction, or sensor fusion methods.
- Familiarity with terminal guidance, rendezvous proximity operations and docking, orbital mechanics, spacecraft or missile GNC, or related systems.
- Ability to navigate complex systems and detailed requirements, with clear communication, documentation, and training skills.
- Ability to maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience includes Matlab, Simulink, Python, Go, OpenCV, vision navigation, image processing, feature tracking, SLAM, spacecraft operations, satellite command and control, orbital mechanics, FlatSats, hardware-in-the-loop testbeds, digital spacecraft simulators, GNC perception algorithms, and spacecraft dynamics simulation.
