Responsibilities
- Own the strategy and quality of the Elastic Security detection library using ES|QL and KQL.
- Design high-fidelity detections mapped to attacker techniques and improve SOC coverage and signal quality.
- Lead incident investigations, threat hunting, response playbook refinement, and post-incident security improvements.
- Build automated investigation, enrichment, and response workflows using SOAR, APIs, and custom tooling.
- Improve cloud security monitoring, system hardening, and security tooling across AWS.
- Partner with engineering teams to eliminate risk, support ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and DORA compliance initiatives, and promote security best practices.
- Mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and participate in a weekly rotating on-call schedule.
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on security engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in incident response, threat hunting, SIEM, digital forensics, and scripting.
- Experience designing detections, automating workflows, and improving security operations processes.
- Strong experience securing cloud-native environments, particularly AWS, with expertise in system hardening, network security, IAM, and security monitoring.
- Experience with Elastic Security, ES|QL, and KQL is highly desirable.
- Ability to own complex technical challenges, lead initiatives through implementation, mentor others, and collaborate across engineering.
