Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Security Hardening team to achieve and retain security certifications
- Extend and enhance Linux cryptographic components for FIPS and Common Criteria certification
- Work with external security consultants to test and validate kernel and cryptographic module components
- Develop security hardening benchmarks and audit/remediation automation for Ubuntu with external partners
- Contribute solutions to Ubuntu mainline and upstream open-source projects
- Identify security posture improvements, resolve issues, and deliver high-quality solutions
- Help influence team security culture, technical delivery, direction, and execution
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging
- Prior C development experience and strong software engineering fundamentals
- Hands-on Linux system administration and shell scripting experience
- Knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals, with direct secure-code development experience
- Significant development experience with open-source libraries
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for remote collaboration
- Experience with FIPS/Common Criteria certified products and related standards is a plus
- Experience with DISA-STIG or CIS benchmarks and audit/remediation tooling is a plus
- Linux Kernel experience is a plus
- Python, OVAL, and Ansible experience is a plus
- Open-source project contributions are a plus
