Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and cloud platform capabilities.
- Develop and integrate APIs using established service and architecture patterns.
- Build reliable data-access and service-integration patterns with relational data stores.
- Implement event-driven and asynchronous workflows, message processing, and background jobs.
- Operate and support services across managed cloud services, containers, virtual machines, and other runtime environments.
- Use CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code workflows to deliver changes safely and repeatably.
- Use logs, metrics, and traces to understand application behavior and diagnose production issues.
- Participate in technical designs, ADRs, RFCs, code reviews, and broader architectural discussions.
- Own defined technical areas and collaborate with experienced engineers on cross-team decisions.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to support development, testing, code exploration, and debugging.
Requirements
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and hands-on experience building backend services or web platforms.
- Go or Python experience is preferred, though strong experience with another backend language is acceptable.
- Practical exposure to public cloud or modern platform environments, especially GCP or AWS.
- Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals and practical experience with event-driven systems, asynchronous processing, and scalability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and monitoring through logs and metrics.
- Familiarity with Identity and Access Management, authentication and authorization fundamentals, and basic cloud security practices.
- Experience applying sound engineering practices, including SOLID principles, automated testing, and technical documentation.
- Helpful experience includes Go, PHP, Ruby, Python, GCP, AWS, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, GKE, EC2, S3, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Datadog.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and use AI tools thoughtfully while retaining technical ownership.
