Responsibilities
- Own and govern data ingestion and integration architecture for the enterprise data platform.
- Define scalable, reusable, production-grade data interfaces and ingestion frameworks for batch, streaming, API-based, and event-driven architectures.
- Establish standards for structured and unstructured data, schema evolution, API design, reliability, contract management, and integration patterns.
- Provide technical leadership, design authority, escalation support, and mentorship for software and data engineers.
- Lead design reviews and ensure scalability, security, maintainability, fault tolerance, observability, error handling, retry mechanisms, orchestration, and monitoring.
- Maintain reusable libraries, templates, framework components, architecture blueprints, and lakehouse design patterns.
- Promote code reviews, unit and integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering standards.
- Collaborate with architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, system owners, business IT teams, and global stakeholders.
- Support scalability, performance optimization, resource utilization, cost transparency, and efficient platform consumption.
- Enable ingestion patterns for data science, machine learning, and AI/LLM use cases.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in software engineering and data platform development focused on large-scale enterprise systems.
- Proven technical leadership and architectural ownership in distributed systems or data platforms.
- Strong hands-on production experience with Scala or Java and Python.
- Deep understanding of APIs, change data capture, streaming, and event-driven data integration architectures.
- Experience designing and governing reusable frameworks, platform components, and engineering standards.
- Knowledge of automated testing, observability, CI/CD, and version control practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or another hyperscaler environment.
- Familiarity with lakehouse and data warehousing architectures; Databricks experience is preferred.
- Ability to guide and mentor engineers and collaborate across global teams and stakeholders.
- Notebook-based data processing without production deployment, dashboarding or BI-focused experience, and SQL-only experience without software engineering are not considered a fit.
