$210k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build secure, scalable platform services, developer tooling, shared infrastructure patterns, and AI-powered developer workflows.
- Contribute to Zocdoc’s internal developer platform strategy, including paved roads, shared tooling, and workflows for technical and non-technical builders.
- Create guardrails, access controls, onboarding paths, and operational workflows that enable non-technical teams to use AI tools safely.
- Define software development lifecycle practices for non-traditional builders, including credential management, testing, support, and contribution workflows.
- Own platform investments end to end from problem framing through implementation, rollout, adoption, and measurement.
- Improve build times, deployment safety, AI tool adoption, reliability, and operational simplicity.
- Partner with engineering and business teams to identify needs, validate platform investments, and drive adoption.
- Advance AI-assisted development practices and establish safe, high-quality, testable ways for Zocdoc builders to use generative AI.
- Mentor engineers and technologists, review architecture and code, and help maintain security, compliance, and reliability standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building or evolving internal developer platforms, productivity tooling, or CI/CD systems used by multiple teams.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems in AWS or similar cloud environments.
- Strong judgment regarding platform abstractions, APIs, standardization, and flexibility.
- Ability to break ambiguous problems into deliverable pieces and drive measurable outcomes.
- Ability to communicate technical trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience or strong informed opinions regarding guardrails, access controls, and safe onboarding for non-engineers using AI tools.
- Experience integrating generative AI tools into daily workflows to automate tasks and improve productivity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to collaborate, adapt to changing priorities, and model learning, curiosity, empathy, and operational excellence.
