Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the software assurance strategy and lead its application across complex software-intensive systems.
  • Plan and lead technical reviews, audits, inspections, assessments and test-witnessing activities.
  • Assess software plans, requirements, architectures, designs and verification evidence against risks, requirements and applicable standards.
  • Work with developers, system designers, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to influence engineering decisions across the lifecycle.
  • Assess software risk and assurance evidence and provide conclusions and recommendations to customers, engineering authorities and senior leadership.
  • Mentor engineers and advance software assurance standards, methods, tools and engineering practice.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of software assurance methods and processes, including audits and reviews.
  • Understanding of software engineering, security, quality and safety standards, including Defence Standard 00-055, BS EN 61508, BS EN 61511, DO-178B/C, DO-254 and DO-331.
  • Good understanding of software lifecycles and their application across different software types, including programmable electronics.
  • Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle and its relationship to software.
  • Logical problem-solving skills and the ability to pragmatically resolve issues and bring stakeholders onboard.
