Responsibilities
- Design, build, and iterate on APIs and services for a standardized data access layer.
- Drive adoption of API-gated data sources so product teams can expose data once for reuse across consuming surfaces.
- Design data ownership labeling and validation logic for incoming requests.
- Own reliability, latency, and operational excellence for a high-throughput, low-latency critical-path system.
- Make early architectural decisions and document them in technical design documents.
- Establish engineering practices including testing, code and design review, on-call, and CI guardrails.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering teams on shared data-layer adoption.
- Own projects, influence roadmaps and long-term planning, mentor engineers, and contribute to knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry experience as a senior software engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals.
- Strong production experience with Python and Golang, plus SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience designing resilient, scalable applications with an emphasis on operational excellence.
- Proven ability to own and drive complex systems end to end and influence cross-team goals and roadmaps.
- Strong understanding of service health, monitoring, fault tolerance, and incident response.
- Ability to make practical technical trade-offs, write technical design documents, and lead their adoption.
- Strong communication, autonomy, asynchronous collaboration, and mentorship skills.
- Experience with data access layers, APIs, platforms for other engineering teams, internal platforms as products, or big data platforms and technologies is preferred.
- Familiarity with ChatGPT, Cursor, and other GenAI productivity tools is preferred.
