Base Salary

$104k - $218k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead a three-person computer vision AI/ML team, setting technical direction, sprint goals, coding standards, and model evaluation metrics.
  • Design, modify, and train custom YOLO architectures from scratch for full-motion video object detection.
  • Architect secure pipelines for ingesting, cleaning, preprocessing, and training on production-recorded video data.
  • Define annotation standards, curate datasets, and address class imbalance, weather variation, and low-contrast conditions.
  • Optimize model speed and accuracy using NVIDIA GPU-acceleration technologies.
  • Collaborate with video streaming engineers, software engineers, and system architects to integrate live computer vision inference.
  • Translate system requirements into technical tasks and serve as the AI/ML pod’s primary point of contact in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an AI/ML focus.
  • At least 7 years of related technical experience, including at least 4 years developing and deploying deep learning or computer vision models with a focus on object detection.
  • Advanced experience with YOLO architectures, training models from scratch, custom anchor boxes, loss-function modification, and hyperparameter tuning.
  • Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow, OpenCV, Python, GPU acceleration, video streams, and frame-by-frame processing.
  • Experience with data curation, active learning, and annotation tools such as CVAT, Label Studio, or Roboflow.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a CBP background investigation, including checks related to felony convictions, illegal drug use, and misconduct.
  • Local availability for a hybrid work schedule in Ashburn, Virginia.
  • Preferred experience with multi-object tracking, AWS AI infrastructure, edge-device deployment, and federal or CBP datasets.
