Base Salary
$140k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop features that help writers earn more money on Substack.
- Design and run growth experiments to improve sign-up conversion, first-action completion, and D1/D7 retention.
- Build tools and features that help new creators find audiences and develop publishing habits.
- Collaborate with designers, writers, support staff, product thinkers, and users from concept and research through implementation and deployment.
- Own work autonomously while maintaining high standards for production systems and user experiences.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously while taking ownership of work.
- High standards for production systems and product quality.
- Commitment to building elegant and delightful product experiences.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of thinkers and contribute unique experience and perspective.
- Alignment with Substack’s mission to support independent writing and a better business model for creators.
- Experience with a fast-growing startup or high-performing growth team is a plus but not required.
