Responsibilities
- Design, architect, develop, integrate, debug, qualify, and deliver embedded and real-time software products.
- Participate in the full software development life cycle, including requirements, design, implementation, qualification, and delivery.
- Develop multithreaded software for flight-critical, safety-critical, medical, or mission-critical real-time applications.
- Work with real-time operating systems in embedded technology environments supporting flight and mission-critical systems.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, hardware designers, integration and test engineers, cloud and application teams, test automation teams, DevSecOps teams, and systems test teams.
- Develop software in Agile Scrum teams across multiple software baselines.
- Analyze system capabilities and resolve issues involving program intent, requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience, or a master’s degree and 10 years, or a PhD and 8 years.
- Experience with the full software development life cycle and Agile software development.
- Experience with C, C++, and Python.
- Experience developing multithreaded software for a real-time flight-critical, safety-critical, medical, or mission-critical application.
- Experience with at least two of Jira, Crucible, Bitbucket, Subversion, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, or Coverity.
- Experience with embedded system programming, software integration, and testing.
- Familiarity with at least two data interfaces, including 1553, 1394, 422, 429, Serial, CAN, Discrete and Analog I/O, Ethernet/IP, or Fibre Channel.
- Recent proficiency in software architecture, design, implementation, integration, and debugging of C++ software running on VxWorks, Integrity, or real-time embedded Linux.
- Active in-scope U.S. Government Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial and upgraded Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) before employment begins and within the company’s required timeframe.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering and management levels and maintain complex software systems.
- Preferred qualifications include SAP access; PowerPC or ARM assembly knowledge; ability to read assembly and CPU documentation; understanding of layered, event-driven, polling, synchronous, hardware-interface, partitioning, isolation, and airworthiness architectures; experience with modeling or diagramming tools; and recent experience with change control, static and dynamic code analysis, and CI/CD tools such as Atlassian, Jira, GitHub, GitLab, SonarQube, Coverity, or Jenkins.
