Senior Software Architect, Browser Extension Platform
Keeper SecurityResponsibilities
- Define and drive the technical architecture and long-term direction of Keeper’s browser extension platform.
- Lead architectural design for complex browser features, shared services, and cross-platform capabilities across Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and other supported environments.
- Design scalable solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern web application technologies.
- Establish secure communication patterns among browser extension components, web applications, backend services, and native integrations.
- Guide decisions involving extension lifecycle, background services, content scripts, messaging, storage, and browser APIs.
- Address performance, memory, reliability, and scalability challenges across browser environments.
- Lead migration and modernization initiatives as browser extension standards and platform capabilities evolve.
- Partner with Product and UX to translate requirements into scalable technical designs.
- Collaborate with Security on threat modeling, secure design, and remediation of security-sensitive browser functionality.
- Lead architecture and design reviews and establish technical standards across the Browser Extension engineering team.
- Mentor senior engineers and improve engineering quality, architecture discipline, and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate with Vault, Desktop, Mobile, and backend teams on overlapping functionality and architecture.
- Use AI-assisted tools for architecture research, prototyping, debugging, code analysis, documentation, and engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with full-stack expertise across databases, backend services, APIs, infrastructure, and modern user interfaces.
- Demonstrated 0-to-1 architecture experience delivering complex software systems from concept through production.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, object-oriented design, and Gang of Four design patterns.
- Deep performance-engineering experience, including profiling, load testing, bottleneck analysis, and real-time debugging across the application stack.
- Experience designing highly available and scalable systems and evaluating centralized versus decentralized architectures.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, serverless architectures, and event-driven application design.
- Experience with AWS, Lambda, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of database architecture and data modeling across transactional, sharded or horizontally scaled, and analytical or warehouse systems.
- Experience designing authentication, authorization, and identity architectures involving IAM, CIEM, and least-privilege access.
- Strong knowledge of web and application security concepts, including CORS, OWASP guidance, and secure software development practices.
- Experience with static analysis, code quality, or application security tools such as SonarQube or Checkmarx.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, CI/CD practices, automated testing, and release engineering.
- Ability to make architectural tradeoffs across performance, security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues across database, backend, infrastructure, network, and UI layers.
- Ability to lead architecture discussions, influence technical direction, and mentor senior engineers without formal people-management authority.
- Ability and willingness to use AI-assisted tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred qualifications include deep browser-extension or client-platform experience, enterprise security-platform experience, familiarity with high-scale SaaS and zero-trust architectures, compliance-framework knowledge, accessibility familiarity, product analytics experience, data-platform familiarity, AI or machine-learning workflow experience, and native application or endpoint integration experience.
