Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of machine learning, LLM, and agentic solutions for learner products and internal business workflows.
- Architect agentic workflows involving tool use, structured outputs, multi-agent orchestration, retrieval, grounding, prompts, embeddings, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Own the reliability, cost, security, performance, evaluation, tracing, and observability of AI services in production.
- Set engineering standards, lead technical approaches to ambiguous problems, review designs and code, and shape AI platform architecture.
- Mentor and develop AI Engineers through technical guidance, pairing, and reviews.
- Collaborate with product, data science, design, and learning teams to translate requirements into technical direction.
- Assess emerging AI techniques, build prototypes, and guide practical adoption across the organization.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software or machine learning engineering.
- Typically 2+ years of experience building and operating LLM-based or agentic systems in production.
- Strong Python skills and knowledge of PyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn.
- Experience with agent and LLM frameworks such as Microsoft Agent Framework and LangGraph, including prompt engineering.
- Strong MLOps experience involving CI/CD, container orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud platforms, with Azure preferred.
- Knowledge of NoSQL/document databases such as Azure Cosmos DB, vector search such as Azure AI Search, and relational/SQL database design and querying.
- Experience leading technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and reviewing designs and code.
- Understanding of data privacy, security, and responsible AI, with the ability to explain complex ideas to non-specialists.
- Preferred experience with Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Vertex AI, the Agent Development Kit, Model Context Protocol, Agent2Agent, C#, .NET, xAPI, LTI, or LMS plug-ins.
