Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated test cases for DPI engines and secure network traffic inspection.
- Test real-world client, router, and cloud interactions across L2–L7 network behavior.
- Validate TLS/SSL traffic inspection and network traffic classification.
- Test malformed packets, evasive traffic, and intrusion detection patterns.
- Simulate security vulnerabilities including DNS tunneling, spoofing, and port scanning, and evaluate detection effectiveness.
- Extend DPI tools such as nDPI, Suricata, and Zeek for custom validation use cases.
- Partner with firmware developers to validate and test access-control logic.
- Identify and document bugs and contribute to continuous QA process improvement.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as an SDET, Security QA Engineer, or in a related networking or security role.
- Strong Python programming and scripting skills for test automation and tooling.
- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, TLS, HTTP/HTTPS, NAT, VPNs, and tunneling protocols.
- Hands-on experience with packet sniffers such as Wireshark and PCAP analysis.
- Understanding of firewall behavior, DPI concepts, SSL inspection, and secure communication protocols.
- Strong debugging skills, including identifying design flaws, race conditions, and performance bottlenecks.
- Ability to break software systems in creative and useful ways.
- Preferred: familiarity with nDPI, Suricata, or commercial DPI stacks.
- Preferred: exposure to MITM techniques and threat simulation frameworks.
- Preferred: experience testing IoT or Wi-Fi edge devices such as OpenWRT, OpenSync, or embedded Linux.
- Preferred: background in cybersecurity, network security, traffic classification, or cloud-native networking products.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
