Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Visual Studio Code extensions and plugins.
- Build custom developer productivity tools and workflows within VS Code.
- Develop extension features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
- Integrate extensions with REST APIs, backend services, AI services, and developer tools.
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines for extension development and deployment.
- Containerize applications with Docker and manage deployments with Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate build, release, and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot extension, debugging, and developer-environment issues.
- Implement unit testing, integration testing, and code-quality practices.
- Document architecture, APIs, and development guidelines.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams and mentor junior developers.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of software development experience.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
- Strong experience with Node.js and hands-on Visual Studio Code extension development.
- Strong understanding of the VS Code Extension API, Language Server Protocol, and Debug Adapter Protocol.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipeline development, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure automation, Linux, and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of authentication, microservices architecture, unit testing, performance optimization, design patterns, and clean architecture.
- Bachelor's or master's engineering degree, MCA, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Preferred experience with C#, .NET 6/7/8, ASP.NET Core Web API, .NET CLI, MSBuild, Roslyn, and NuGet.
- Preferred experience with Azure or AWS, AI-assisted development tools, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI or other LLM APIs, Electron, YAML, Terraform, and VS Code Marketplace publishing.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging, analytical, communication, collaboration, and scalable-architecture skills; Agile/Scrum experience is preferred.
