Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, test procedures, and test cases supporting DO-178C qualification.
- Perform unit, integration, hardware-in-the-loop, and system-level testing of embedded software.
- Maintain clear traceability between tests and high- and low-level requirements.
- Debug issues, investigate problems, and report defects in collaboration with software developers.
- Produce test reports, evidence packages, and certification documentation.
- Participate in requirements, architecture, and code reviews to assess testability and completeness.
- Support structural coverage activities, including MC/DC.
- Interpret hardware datasheets, microcontroller documentation, and interface specifications to create test scenarios.
- Use embedded toolchains, debuggers, simulators, and automated test environments.
- Improve test processes, tools, and templates.
Requirements
- Proven experience in software verification and validation within an aerospace or safety-critical environment.
- Hands-on experience applying DO-178B/C practices, ideally to Level A.
- Strong understanding of embedded systems and experience testing microcontroller-based software and low-level communication protocols.
- Ability to understand and assess C source code for testability; coding is not required.
- Ability to interpret hardware documentation and interface specifications.
- Must hold a British passport or have the right to work in the UK.
- Experience with structural coverage tools such as Parasoft, LDRA, VectorCAST, or Cantata is desirable.
- Familiarity with requirements and configuration management tools such as DOORS and GitHub is desirable.
- Experience with HIL/PIL test setups is desirable.
- Knowledge of tool qualification under DO-330 is desirable.
