Responsibilities

  • Drive initiatives to improve reliability, performance, and security.
  • Educate the team on delivering reliable and secure systems.
  • Design, build, and provision new infrastructure for products.
  • Review code quality and mentor engineers.
  • Increase mean-time-between-failures and decrease mean-time-to-repair.
  • Contribute to monitoring and measurement systems.
  • Help engineering teams operate systems effectively.
  • Participate in emergency response and incident reviews.
  • Contribute to performance tuning and efficiency improvements.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Support change management in applications and infrastructure.
  • Advise on capacity requirements using monitoring data.

Requirements

  • Experience with automated failover scenarios.
  • Commitment to continual learning.
  • Experience in both operations-focused and development-focused work.
  • Strong communication skills for team collaboration.
  • Experience building and maintaining cloud-based applications.
  • Knowledge of caching techniques.
  • Experience with CDN providers and DDoS mitigation services.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools.
  • Passion for best practice systems operations.
  • Experience with public and private cloud-hosted infrastructure.
  • SQL database management experience.
