Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of API and integration solutions while mentoring developers.
- Build and evolve API and integration services using .NET Core, cloud functions, or serverless technologies.
- Design enterprise integration layers, backend-for-frontend and orchestration patterns, and integrations with legacy systems.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth/OIDC, managed identity, Key Vault, private endpoints, and least-privilege controls.
- Design resilience, asynchronous workflows, messaging, caching, read models, eventual consistency, reconciliation, and downstream status tracking.
- Establish API quality gates covering unit, integration, contract, performance, security, regression, and release-readiness testing.
- Guide technical planning, dependency management, design decisions, risk mitigation, release management, and production change controls.
- Partner with product, business, QA, architecture, frontend, and operations teams from discovery through delivery.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 6+ years focused on APIs, integration engineering, backend platform engineering, or service-oriented application development.
- 3+ years designing and delivering integrations in Azure cloud-native environments or equivalent AWS/GCP services, including serverless compute, messaging, relational data stores, caching, secrets management, identity, API gateways, monitoring, and observability.
- Strong experience building secure, reliable APIs with .NET, ASP.NET Core, cloud functions, serverless services, or comparable enterprise API frameworks.
- Experience with API gateways, Azure API Management or equivalent AWS/GCP services, F5/WAF patterns, throttling, rate limiting, and centralized API policy enforcement.
- Experience leading small technical or feature teams through delivery, including technical planning, developer mentorship, dependency management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, environment promotion, release management, code review, secure development practices, and production change controls.
- Proven experience designing enterprise integration layers and implementing backend-for-frontend, orchestration, proxy, abstraction, or anti-corruption-layer patterns at scale.
- Strong communication skills across technical and business teams.
- Experience integrating backend APIs with React, Next.js, or similar frontend technologies is an asset.
- Experience in regulated or high-trust environments such as financial services or healthcare is an asset.
