Base Salary
$105k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of middleware patterns and runtimes to standardize interoperability and support multi-tenant scale.
- Define versioning, deprecation, API lifecycle, compatibility, and safe rollout strategies.
- Drive shared observability baselines, SLOs, error budgets, resilience patterns, capacity planning, and service availability improvements.
- Design, implement, test, debug, profile, optimize, and maintain scalable software, systems, and services.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, coaching, mentoring, and development of less experienced engineers.
- Create migration guides, adoption playbooks, software design documentation, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot complex cross-service, API, integration, maintenance, and customer-reported issues.
- Coordinate moderately complex projects and initiatives across teams, timelines, deliverables, and resources.
- Participate in candidate interviews and provide hiring recommendations.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience with advanced knowledge of software design, architecture, scalability, performance optimization, and interoperability.
- Experience leading platform projects across multiple teams and guiding engineers through architecture, development, testing, and operational improvements.
- Experience with middleware or runtime patterns, API versioning and lifecycle management, observability, resilience, debugging, and complex issue resolution.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, coach engineers, collaborate with stakeholders and customers, and influence architectural standards.
- Experience applying secure coding practices, software quality standards, automation, monitoring, patching, and reliability practices.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, documentation, communication, and continuous-improvement skills.
