Responsibilities
- Design, build, maintain, and lead the development of high-throughput, scalable, performance-critical software.
- Lead scalable code, prototype, MVP, and proof-of-concept development while owning complex long-term projects through timely delivery.
- Identify architecture improvements, prepare proposals, and independently evaluate technical solutions.
- Collaborate across development teams, products, product management, technical teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Conduct testing and code reviews, diagnose technical issues, and ensure code quality and best practices.
- Define project scope and requirements, communicate progress and risks, and manage multiple changing priorities.
- Contribute to strategic direction, team roadmaps, product-spanning features, and global strategic initiatives.
- Mentor developers and interns, provide subject-matter expertise, and guide technical execution and trade-offs.
- Document system design and architecture and lead department-wide technical discussions and training.
- Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call schedule if applicable.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional experience developing and supporting production software using C#/.NET and object-oriented design.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent working experience.
- Experience diagnosing production issues using logs and tools such as BigQuery and Sentry.
- Expertise in designing and architecting large production systems involving schedulers, report generation, templates, and dashboards.
- Experience designing, optimizing, and querying SQL Server and Postgres databases, plus expert knowledge of database optimization such as MySQL.
- Knowledge of front-end languages and libraries including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, ES6, and jQuery, and frameworks such as Angular, React, Node.js, and Vue.js.
- Proficiency with Git or another distributed source control tool, including resolving merge conflicts and renaming branches.
- Repeated success mentoring and developing employees, including interns.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, project management, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to research and solve open-ended design problems, work under pressure, and manage fast-changing priorities.
- Experience with software programs including Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Slides.
