Base Salary
$240k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Analyze, design, discuss, and develop distributed systems based on replicated state machines.
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable Java code for server-side systems.
- Design and evolve messaging protocols and software libraries.
- Troubleshoot and debug Java applications and distributed systems.
- Apply testing, benchmarking, measurement, and profiling to improve correctness and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and technical discussions.
- Contribute to product decisions, architecture, engineering practices, and technical priorities.
- Communicate technical decisions and priorities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience designing, building, debugging, and operating distributed systems.
- Strong experience developing server-side software in Java.
- Experience designing and evolving messaging protocols or software libraries.
- Experience using testing to support software correctness and performance.
- Experience measuring, benchmarking, and profiling components or systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative approach with an interest in knowledge sharing and learning.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands based on long-term value and explain priorities to stakeholders.
- Confidence challenging the status quo and suggesting technical or cultural improvements.
- Additional useful experience includes messaging technologies, deterministic replicated state machines, low-latency systems, property-based or deterministic simulation testing, FIX or ITCH, OMS or EMS systems, C or C++, build tools, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, customer-facing technical discussions, or public technical communication.
